A Dive into eMoney’s Core Features
eMoney is one of the top online financial planning tools used by financial planners, like Vita Financial, in conjunction with their clients. Financial planners can offer a user-friendly online tool to facilitate transparent communication with clients. Clients receive a real-time, comprehensive, big-picture view of their finances across investments and institutions.
Although it’s pretty easy to use, we conducted an eMoney workshop to help you use all of eMoney’s terrific functionality and answer your questions about the tool. Click here to view the seminar Zoom recording, or read on to learn more about the topics we covered.
We kicked off the workshop with an overview of the eMoney platform, and then followed the homepage navigation options to demonstrate core eMoney features. This is a high-level summary. Please view the recording to get full details.
Homepage - Your Financial Dashboard
Here you’ll find summaries of your goals, investments, and net worth, based on the financial information you’re currently tracking in eMoney. There is also a link to add more accounts (bank, investment, mortgage, etc.), so you’re taking full advantage of this holistic view.
Organizer Tab – Streamline Financial Management
Perfectly named, this section is where you and your financial planner document family, account, budget, investment, and other information needed to organize and fully utilize your eMoney tool.
Goals Tab – Monitor Goals and Explore Options
We discussed two types of eMoney goals – Active Goals and Explore Mode. Active goals are those you’ve been discussing with your financial planner, like retirement or planning for a child’s college. Explore Mode is a way to test additional goals, like buying a lake house. eMoney provides a “Monte Carlo score,” a range of probabilities for achieving your goals using a variety of market data.
Spending Tab – Tracking Financial Health
You can use eMoney to monitor and analyze budget and spending patterns. The visual representations help you identify positive and negative trends, so you can make informed decisions. This is a private section, but you can share it with us if you’d like.
Investment Tab – Monitor Portfolio Performance
Track and evaluate your linked investment accounts so you can see results over time. After the initial summary view, you can click to see more specific details by account, holdings, allocations, etc. It’s important to have all your accounts linked so you can view comprehensive data here.
Vault Tab – Secure Document Storage
This is a secure place to store important documents and share information with your financial planning team. The interface is drag-and-drop, so easy to use. Fidelity owns eMoney, ensuring that this data is secure.
Reports Tab – Access Important Financial Reporting
This is our favorite section. Review your financial status and progress by choosing from a variety of reports. Most reports are interactive, meaning you can click on information to learn more. We’ll do another workshop on this valuable section.
Tasks Tab – Understand Next Steps
Improve communication between you and your financial planning team by documenting tasks within the eMoney system. We can all set and complete tasks together to better manage your financial plan.
